Details of DunkNET news, updates and thoughts.

While ironing clothes for a dance event, I decided to watch The Office on dvd for the first time. I ended up watching most of the first series, and its still as funny as the first time, possibly better. Now I have a need to buy the second series, and hunt down a few other series I haven't seen in a while. Maybe its time to buy all seven series of Buffy on dvd.

I also took the time to download a trailer for the Transformers film in July. Its looking good, and most definately my must see for the year.

But more important than anything else, is the most important night of the year. Thats right folks, Eurovision is almost upon us! As normal, friends are coming round to watch, all the acts will be rated, and hopefully I will have bet on the winner again (Ukraine is my tip!). Make sure you watch it, there is nothing funnier on all year.

So now I have to start looking at the skin for the site, and thinking about such things as colours, images and styles. Anyone who knows me will be aware these aren't my strong points, but I'll give it a go.

I've almost caught up with writing my story hour in the forums, although the actual posts are currently a little behind where we stand in actual game play.

I'm adding bits here and there, some links and forum posts, that sort of thing. There probably won't be any major new content until after our local convention, Exe Games Weekend.

Most of my dancing in the last few years has been at one venue in Exeter, with one organisation. But now the status-quo of Exeter's modern jive scene has been altered by the arrival of national dance company Ceroc. Quite alot of people have heard of them, and they bring another night of the week for me to dance in Exeter. Last night was their first night, and as usual the ladies outnumbered the men. A lot of punters didn't really know what to expect, but some seemed to pick it up, and will no doubt be seen next week as well. I expect many boyfriends, brothers and other men to be dragged along next week, but as entry is free and there is still a bar, they can't really lose. The music was interesting, chosen by a salsa DJ who had minimal experience of modern jive, but it was good to dance to new stuff as always. If you want to come along, next week is free too, at St George's Hall in Exeter. Details at www.cerocdevon.com. There is still modern jive on the regular nights, of course, Monday and Thursday at St Georges Hall in Exeter.

Being at home most days does strange things to you. Never before have I been interested in gardening or cooking. I'm still not interested in gardening, but since I had to put up a new fence, it felt stupid having a garden of weeds, moss and ivy. But when I asked my mum if she had any spare plants, I didn't also expect a large bag of peat, an hour's skilled labour and a fair amount of advice. My plants probably won't get the recommended amount of water, but more a random amount every few days. If they can't survive a few days drought, then they probably don't belong there in the first place. Cooking is a more long-term aim, but at least it has immediate rewards of something to eat. My shelves are slowly filling with strange ingredients (so bay leaves and ginger may not be strange to you, but they are unheard of in my kitchen) and I haven't progressed far beyond trying soup and some cakes, but some of my friends will soon become (un)willing victims :). In fact, the ones coming to stay soon will find it even harder to run away.

So did anyone else turn on the TV at seven on Saturday, expecting Dr Who, only to find that they had missed the first twenty-five minutes? . Well, it was still good, and not too hard to pick up the plot. The daleks are evolving, but just when will there be a series without them?

Second half concludes next week.... hopefully with me seeing all of it this time.

The latest Story Hour update of our Rune Quest campaign is up, viewable here.

All of my Troll: The Rending material has now been moved over from duncansway and added to the Gaming section. I took some time to clean it up, update it and expand it a little. Now I've just got to find a time to run it again. Maybe Gen Con UK!

Progress continues, albiet at a slower rate now. A book review section has been added, folding in with the story hours to create and books and writing section. Something funky is going on with the blog however, as I seem to be losing entries when I edit them.

The forums have been expanded and more visitors continue to arrive. I've been messing around with an events part for the Gaming section, for things like Exe Games Weekender and GenCon UK.

Its starting to look like a proper site

We're celebrating the birthdays of three of my gaming group with a mini pub-crawl this afternoon. So happy birthday to Will, Alice and Chris. With luck the quiz machines will fund our little expedition.

The site is nearly 24 hours old, and growing steadily. I've expanded the links, added details of  Runequest and D&D story hours, moved over the D&D Ironman from my old site and tinkered with the forums.

My first two visitors have signed up. Hello Gavin and John!

What really needs my attention soon is the styles and layout. I'm currently using one of DotNetNuke's default skins, but this will change when I come to designing my new one. Anyone who knows me will recognise that designing (or anything graphical) is not one of my strong points.

This is the first day of DunkNET. My website for various writing and gaming material, and discussion for my interests.

My first aims are to get the site up and running, putting in a framework on which to build on. So far the forums are up, a few basic links and thats about it.

I need to add some more content and pages, then I can get to work on moving over content from older sites.

Yay!
