Most of my dancing in the last few years has been at one venue in Exeter, with one organisation. But now the status-quo of Exeter's modern jive scene has been altered by the arrival of national dance company Ceroc. Quite alot of people have heard of them, and they bring another night of the week for me to dance in Exeter.
Last night was their first night, and as usual the ladies outnumbered the men. A lot of punters didn't really know what to expect, but some seemed to pick it up, and will no doubt be seen next week as well. I expect many boyfriends, brothers and other men to be dragged along next week, but as entry is free and there is still a bar, they can't really lose. The music was interesting, chosen by a salsa DJ who had minimal experience of modern jive, but it was good to dance to new stuff as always.
If you want to come along, next week is free too, at St George's Hall in Exeter. Details at www.cerocdevon.com. There is still modern jive on the regular nights, of course, Monday and Thursday at St Georges Hall in Exeter.
